High Conductivity and Durable Fibrous PEDOT:PSS Sponge for Organic Redox Diffusion Battery

Abstract

In this research, we developed the high conductive and durable fibrous PEDOT:PSS sponge for organic redox diffusion battery using bottom-up approach. PEDOT:PSS microfiber were used as a building block and self-fused for fabrication of fibrous PEDOT:PSS sponge. The fabricated fibrous PEDOT:PSS sponge has large pores (~200 mm), allowing smooth electrolyte diffusion and can be stretched by up to 40%. The fibrous PEDOT:PSS sponge demonstrates superior battery characteristics, demonstrating superior capacity compared to two-dimensional electrodes (film and mesh) when indigo carmine is used as the active material.
