Abstract

Polycrystalline (PC) perovskites have been widely investigated for optoelectronic applications owing to their facile fabrication process and excellent properties, including defect tolerance, tunable bandgaps, and high absorption coefficients. However, defects in PC perovskites induce trap states that promote non-radiative recombination and ion migration, thereby degrading device performance and structural stability. To address these issues, single-crystalline (SC) perovskites with intrinsically low trap densities have been explored, but their excessive thickness and limited size still hinder efficient charge transport and practical device integration Herein, we demonstrate large-area, thin SC perovskite films by employing hydrophobic space-confining layers and polymer additives. Hydrophobic space-confining layers and polymer additives induced lateral crystal growth, enabling synthesis of large-scale and reduced thickness single-crystal thin films.
