Abstract

Tin (Sn) halide perovskites have emerged as promising alternatives to toxic lead (Pb) halide perovskites for optoelectronic applications. However, Sn2+ is easily oxidized and crystallizes rapidly, leading to poor film uniformity. It is particularly difficult to fabricate thick films that absorb enough light while maintaining film quality.[1,2] In this study, we enhance light absorption in ultra-thin Sn halide perovskite films by employing Fabry–Perot (FP) resonances in a planar p-i-n architecture. By aligning the FP resonance condition with the intrinsic absorption peak of the perovskite layer, we induce constructive interference, enabling improved optical confinement. As a result, a 50 nm-thick Sn halide perovskite film with reduced defect density achieves relatively high photocurrent despite its minimal thickness. This approach demonstrates the potential of integrating optical engineering with material optimization to realize efficient photodetectors with enhanced performance.
