Abstract

Mixed ionic-electronic conductors have garnered significant attention due to their potential to enhance thermoelectric (TE) performance by combining outstanding thermovoltage through ion diffusion with high electrical conductivity via electron transport. Herein, ion transport pathways enabling rapid cation (H+ and Sn4+) conduction are formed through the binding of Sn4+ Lewis acids and PEDOT:PSS. Hydroxo complexes formed by Sn4+ ion not only serve as highly concentrated source of protons but also enable dynamic proton conduction via super-acidic sites. TE performance were optimized by precisely controlling the relative humidity and the aggregation behavior, achieving remarkable Seebeck coefficient of 23.6 mV K-1 and power factor of 18.2 mW m-1K-2 at 90% RH. Leveraging high TE performance and voltage stability, PEDOT─[Sn(OH)n](4-n)+─based ionic–electronic conductors represent a promising platform for efficient TE harvesting, even under low-grade thermal gradients.
