Abstract

Regiorandom semiconductors, known for their straightforward synthesis and processing, have traditionally suffered from low hole mobility compared to their regioregular counterparts, limiting their practical use. In this study, we demonstrate that regiorandom organic semiconductors can deliver high drain current and hole mobility when employed in electrolyte-gated transistors, positioning them as viable candidates for stretchable electronics. The high capacitance of the electrolyte mitigates carrier trapping, resulting in enhanced charge transport and a high ON/OFF current ratio of approximately 104. Furthermore, we investigated how variations in side-chains influence both electrical and mechanical properties. The optimized devices exhibited stable operation under 200% strain and maintained performance over 1,000 stretching cycles. These findings highlight the potential of regiorandom semiconductors as high-performance, stretchable materials for next-generation wearable technologies.
