Abstract

Achieving high efficiency and long-term stability remains a key challenge in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). We present a dual strategy combining surface defect removal and orientation engineering. The top surface of perovskite films shows higher defect density than the bulk, causing bandgap blue-shift and non-radiative recombination. Selective trimming (~50 nm) using a solvent–anti-solvent mixture reduced surface defects while preserving morphology and absorption.
To further improve performance, we introduced 2D perovskite into the trimming solvent, simultaneously refining the surface and forming a favorable 2D/3D interface. Unlike conventional 2D/3D structures that hinder charge transport, the tilted 2D perovskite enhanced conductivity and passivated grain boundaries without affecting 3D crystallization. As a result, devices achieved a certified efficiency of 26.3% and retained ~90% of initial output after 1100 h under MPP tracking.
