Abstract

Photoprogrammable organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) have garnered significant attention as optoelectronic platforms capable of light-induced current modulation. However, all previously reported photoprogrammable OFETs employing diarylethene (DAE) derivatives rely on ultraviolet (UV) light to induce the photocyclization (open-to-closed isomerization) process, limiting device stability and safety due to UV-induced degradation and biological hazards. To overcome this issue, we demonstrate, for the first time, a visible-light-driven photoprogrammable OFET based on a ternary blend comprising a polymer semiconductor (DPP-DTT), a DAE photoswitch, and a triplet sensitizer with a narrow singlet-triplet energy gap (ΔEST). Our system enables efficient photocyclization at 450 nm and photocycloreversion at 520 nm, exhibiting high photoprogrammable ID switching ratio exceeding 10³ and excellent fatigue resistance over more than 100 switching cycles.
