Study on the Property Changes of Coffee Grounds–Styrofoam Composites According to Heat-Treatment Temperature

Abstract

This study investigated the changes in material properties of composites made from coffee grounds and Styrofoam according to heat-treatment temperature. Coffee grounds, as a natural organic material, have attracted attention as a recyclable and environmentally friendly resource, while Styrofoam is widely used in various industrial fields due to its light weight and insulating properties. However, Styrofoam has been pointed out as one of the major contributors to environmental issues, and research is being conducted on methods to recycle it.

In this experiment, coffee grounds were mixed with Styrofoam, and the composites were subjected to heat treatment at various temperatures to analyze the resulting physical and chemical changes.
