Abstract

Perovskite nanowires are expected to serve as building blocks for polarized light emission and detection due to their outstanding photophysical properties and anisotropic nature. Although there has been significant progress in the synthesis and applications of lead halide perovskite nanowires, their use is significantly limited by poor stability and toxicity. Here, high-aspect ratio Cs3Cu2I5 nanowires are synthesized using a facile solution-phase method by controlling surface energy differences with a weakly polar solvent. Changing solvents enables manipulation of nucleation and growth kinetics, allowing the size and anisotropy to be adjusted over a wide range. Benefiting from the processability, lyotropic self-assembly of Cs3Cu2I5 nanowires has been achieved in the styrene monomer, which then subsequently be aligned and polymerized. The aligned nanowire–polymer composite film exhibits enhanced stability and strong photoluminescence, with a polarization ratio of 0.31.
