Abstract
In this study, we developed an adhesive specifically designed for laminated electrical steels used in dot-bonded motor cores for electric vehicles. This adhesive demonstrates exceptional adhesion performance and oil resistance, attributed to the incorporation of an isosorbide-based core structure, which provides both strong hydrophilicity and a rigid molecular framework. The adhesive’s bonding performance was assessed through lap shear strength measurements on laminated electrical steel, along with peel strength evaluations on dot-bonded motor cores. These properties were compared with those of a reference adhesive formulated using a petroleum-derived alicyclic polyol. The isosorbide derivative was introduced into an acrylate-modified polyurethane matrix as a polyol component, enhancing compatibility with other formulation constituents and facilitating a rapid curing process.
