For decades, my research on biodegradable polymers unlocked new possibilities in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. This lecture will reflect on my journey, sharing the challenges and achievements in developing biomaterials for cartilage and blood vessel regeneration. Progress was made possible through the process of creating materials that mimic natural tissues, which fused knowledge and technology from diverse fields. As I retire, I want to share two key visions. First, establishing a robust global research system is crucial for tackling complex challenges. Second, AI will revolutionize regenerative medicine. AI-driven design of novel materials and personalized treatments will accelerate the era of precision medicine. This lecture is a farewell, but also a chance to inspire the next generation. I hope my experience becomes a seed for their future success, and I will conclude with a call to action for a brighter future in biomaterials and regenerative medicine
