Quinoxaline-Based Interfacial Engineering for Enhanced Wide-Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cell Performance

Wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are essential for tandem photovoltaics that surpass single-junction efficiency limits. However, their performance remains limited by non-radiative recombination at the buried interface between hole transport layer and perovskite in p-i-n architectures. We introduce a quinoxaline-based donor-acceptor organic interlayer (QxNN) for the NiOx/wide-bandgap perovskite interface. The interlayer effectively passivates interfacial defects through Lewis adduct formation, leading to improved charge extraction and reduced non-radiative recombination. QxNN's high dipole moment increases built-in potential. PSCs incorporating QxNN exhibited efficiency increase from 17.5 % to 20.0 %, representing one of the highest reported values. The devices demonstrated exceptional stability, maintaining 95 % of initial performance over 500 hours. These results highlight quinoxaline-based interfacial engineering for high-performance wide-bandgap PSCs.
