Organic fluorescent materials have attracted attention in sensing applications due to their tunability and biocompatibility. Among various sensing mechanisms, color change is widely used owing to its easy visual recognition. In this study, we synthesized a series of D-A type copolymers by incorporating small amounts of fluorescent acceptor units with different emission colors into a conjugated polymer backbone with inherent fluorescence. To preserve morphological stability, crosslinkable monomers were included in all copolymers.
The photophysical properties of copolymers were evaluated by UV–Vis, PL, and fluorescence lifetime measurements. Each copolymer emitted short-wavelength emission in the swollen state and long-wavelength emission in the collapsed state, enabling solvent sensing based on this fluorescence behavior. Furthermore, crosslinking enabled spatial fixation and patterning of emissive regions, making them suitable for sensing and smart patterning applications.
