Poly(dicyclopentadiene) (PDCPD) exhibits robust mechanical strength and high thermal and chemical stability. The robust framework of PDCPD enables the formation of porous PDCPD with a wide range of pore sizes. Previous approaches to preparing mesoporous PDCPD have relied on block copolymer pre-polymers as templates, followed by polymerization of PDPCD to achieve nanostructured PDCPD. However, to control the pore size, the synthesis of various pre-polymers was required. Here, we report an efficient one-pot strategy for preparing nanostructured PDCPD via ring-opening metathesis polymerization-induced microphase separation. This method allows tuning of morphology, domain size, and degradability. Nanostructured PDCPDs were synthesized in a stepwise fashion involving the polymerization of macromonomer as a first block, followed by sequential polymerization of DCPD. We will discuss an investigation of the microphase separation behavior and porosity of PDCPD in detail.
