Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) are eco-friendly fillers gaining attention as alternatives to silica and carbon black in rubber composites. However, their hydrophilic nature causes aggregation, limiting dispersion and reinforcement efficiency. This study explores synergistic effects of CNFs combined with silica as co-fillers in rubber matrices. The dual fillers are expected to form networks enhancing mechanical properties beyond single fillers. Tensile strength, elastic modulus, and thermal stability were measured. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) examined filler dispersion. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and rheometry assessed storage modulus, loss modulus, and tan δ. The Payne effect was analyzed to understand filler interactions, providing insight into reinforcement mechanisms. Results suggest CNF/silica co-fillers have potential for sustainable, high-performance rubber composites.
