Neuromorphic sensors aim to mimic biological sensory processing for rapid, energy-efficient data analysis. However, selectively identifying analytes within chemically similar mixtures remains a challenge. Here, we present an artificial olfactory system (AOS) that combines human olfactory receptors (hORs) with organic synaptic devices. The system integrates an hOR-functionalized extended gate with an organic neuromorphic component to generate distinct signal patterns in response to individual odorants and their mixtures, even at the molecular chain length level. These unique response profiles result from specific hOR-odorant interactions and enable precise classification through training and inference. This research showcases a new approach for developing high-performance olfactory platforms, with strong potential for future wearable and implantable neuromorphic applications.
