A series of difluorobenzotriazole-based conjugated polymers P(BDTTH-TfFPzT), P(BDTTCl-TfFPzT), P(BDTTF-TfFPzT), and P(BDTTS-TfFPzT) were synthesized using Stille coupling to systematically examine the impact of substituent modification on material properties. Incorporation of hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, or sulfur groups on the benzodithiophene (BDT) unit led to broad UV–Vis absorption (300–800 nm) and narrow optical bandgaps (1.75–1.80 eV). Variations in substituents strongly influenced molecular packing, charge transfer efficiency, and photovoltaic behavior. The fluorinated polymer delivered the highest power conversion efficiency (7.79%) due to enhanced charge mobility and improved morphology, whereas the unsubstituted variant recorded the lowest efficiency (3.85%). These results highlight the pivotal role of substituent engineering in tailoring polymer performance for next-generation organic photovoltaic applications.
