Vitrimers are polymeric materials featuring cross-linked networks formed via dynamic covalent bonds. The processability and recyclability of vitrimers are enabled by its ability to undergo topological changes in response to external stimuli, such as heat and stress.
As the application of tensile force induces chain alignment along the direction of deformation, polymers with dynamic bonds experiences the stress relaxation via network rearrangement. Consequently, difference in kinetics between the rates of tensile deformation and the bond-exchange reaction is expected to lead to distinct structural changes and mechanical responses.
In this study, we investigate the evolution of microstructure and properties of vitrimers under tensile deformation at various strain rates. The stress relaxation tests were conducted to characterize the relaxation behavior. SAXS experiments were performed with tensile deformation to simultaneously investigate the microstructural changes.
