In seawater, precious metal ions are present at extremely low concentrations, and various competing metal ions coexist, making it challenging to develop adsorbents with high selectivity and high adsorption capacity. Amidoxime groups exhibit high selectivity and adsorption capacity for specific metal ions. TiO2 nanoparticles enhance ion accessibility by imparting hydrophilicity and improve surface reactivity under UV irradiation through their photocatalytic activity. In this study, nanofibers incorporating TiO2 nanoparticles were fabricated using a syringeless electrospinning, and their cyano groups were converted to amidoxime by reacting with hydroxylamine. Adsorption behavior was confirmed by adsorption isotherms and kinetic model. Under UV irradiation, the adsorbents exhibited a rapid adsorption rate and enhanced adsorption capacity. The high selectivity for specific metal ions was confirmed even under seawater conditions in the presence of various competing ions.
