Liposomes are biocompatible nanocarriers that encapsulate hydrophobic drugs within their lipid bilayer. They are advantageous for ocular drug delivery due to localized administration and minimal systemic absorption. However, limited mucoadhesion and rapid clearance from the ocular surface hinder their therapeutic efficacy. To enhance retention and stability, we coated the liposomes with hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural anionic polymer known for strong mucoadhesion and receptor interaction. To address the limitations of conventional liposomal systems, we adopted a microfluidic synthesis method. We investigated how lipid composition, stock solution concentration, and flow rate ratio affect colloidal stability and surface properties of HA-coated liposomes. The coating process involved dropwise addition of HA solution into the liposome suspension under stirring, enabling electrostatic adsorption. Size, PDI, and zeta potential were analyzed by DLS and ELS.
