Lithium metal is considered an ideal anode material due to its exceptionally high theoretical capacity, low electrode potential, and rapid charging rate. However, uncontrolled lithium dendrite growth remains a critical obstacle to its practical application. In this study, bimetallic metal-organic framework nanoparticles are developed as artificial passivation solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer for high stability lithium metal batteries. This artificial layer utilizes lewis acid sites and lithophilic ligands to promote efficient lithium-ion desolvation, resulting in an enriched lithium-ion concentration at the electrode surface. Furthermore, the artificial passivation layer effectively prevents electrolyte decomposition and enables uniform lithium-ion flux, leading to a homogeneous inorganic SEI layer. Overall, these effects contribute to the effective inhibition of dendrite growth, presenting a promising strategy for developing next-generation lithium metal batteries.
