Tungsten oxide (WO₃) is a leading electrochromic material, yet further improvements in coloration efficiency and device durability are critical for commercial use. In this study, high-aspect-ratio silver nanowires (AgNWs) were integrated into WO₃ nanoparticles using a doctor blade coating method to create nanocomposite electrochromic layers suitable for large-area fabrication. Devices using neat WO₃, AgNW–WO₃ nanocomposites, and AgNW/WO₃ bilayers were systematically characterized. Incorporation of AgNWs notably increased surface roughness and improved ion and electron transport, as demonstrated by optical, morphological, and electrochemical analyses. The AgNW–WO₃ structure achieved a threefold enhancement in coloration efficiency (15.2 to 46.5 cm²/C) and maintained over 45% of initial optical modulation after 100 cycles. These findings offer a scalable approach to high-performance, durable electrochromic devices for applications such as smart windows.
