Two-way shape memory polymers (2W-SMPs) can reversibly change their shape in response to thermal stimuli and are widely studied for applications in soft actuators and smart devices. In this study, crosslinked polyurethane networks were synthesized using poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), polybutadiene (PB) as soft segments and glycerol as a chain extender. The networks were prepared by varying the ratio of two aliphatic diisocyanates: hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI). We observed that the shape memory characteristics, including shape fixity and recovery, were influenced by changes in the HDI/IPDI ratio. This study demonstrates that the HDI/IPDI composition is a key factor in controlling the properties and performance of polyurethane-based 2W-SMPs, offering a strategy for composition optimization. These findings provide valuable insights into the design of 2W-SMPs with tailored performance for soft actuators and adaptive materials.
