Thermoplastic polyurethanes(TPUs), one of the important thermoplastic elastomers, are widely utilized across various industries due to their high elasticity and abrasion resistance, and excellent processability. However, increasing demands for sustainability and enhanced material properties have driven efforts to develop more advanced TPU materials. In this study, we present a one-step dynamic crosslinking strategy to convert commercially available TPU into a covalent adaptable network (CAN) featuring dynamic covalent bonds. This transformation was achieved by crosslinking the TPU using a dithiol containing boronic ester bonds in the presence of a small amount of DCP in an internal mixer. The resulting modified TPUs were characterized by FTIR, solubility test, DMA, DSC, tensile testing, and rheological analysis. The results demonstrate that the dynamically crosslinked TPUs exhibit enhanced mechanical properties and excellent recyclability compared to the unmodified material.
