A large portion of the energy consumed by humans is dissipated as low-grade waste heat. To harvest this thermal energy, batteries based on thermally regenerative electrochemical cycle (TREC) principles have been explored. However, conventional TREC systems typically rely on rigid electrode materials and are implemented in bulky, beaker-type configurations. Herein, we introduce a hydrogel-based battery system that operates on the TREC principle. The device adopts a three-electrode configuration comprising PBA as the working electrode, PEDOT:PSS as the counter electrode, and Ag/AgCl as the reference electrode. Electrochemical performance was evaluated using CV and GCD measurements. The system’s thermal energy conversion capability was assessed through temperature coefficient analysis and voltage-specific capacity profiling. This hydrogel-based TREC platform offers promising potential for integration into next-generation wearable thermal energy harvesting systems.
