Biomass-derived materials have gained attention in recent years due to their diverse raw material sources and potential to reduce environmental impact. However, a drawback is the lack of fundamental properties, which we aim to improve by utilizing the self-assembling characteristics of liquid crystals. In this study, natural molecules-based liquid crystalline epoxy resin (N-LCERs) are designed and synthesized. Featuring a conjugated aromatic ester structure and a flexible spacer, N-LCERs contribute to the formation of an oriented crystalline network in the cured epoxy via π–π stacking, enhancing intrinsic physical/chemical properties. The presentation will cover the liquid crystalline properties of the developed N-LCER monomers and the fundamental properties of the cured N-LCERs.
