In this study, our objective was to create a material possessing self-healing properties. We achieved this by synthesizing the monomer located at the end of the Cinnamoyl structure. For self-healing materials, we opted for a structure that imparts surface hydrophobicity, aiming to address the vulnerability to moisture, which is a drawback in such materials. The hydrophobicity of the surface was adjusted through the number of saturated carbon(CnH2n) or fluorine(CnF2n) contained in the linear self-healing polymer. The changes in surface energy and self-healing property due to the backbone structure of the polymer were confirmed through analysis. Through this, among the polymerized linear polymers, a polymer with the high hydrophobicity and optical properties and capable of reversible [2+2] cycloaddition was selected. Moreover, the study validated its potential use in optical films.
