Indium phosphide (InP) nanocrystals have shown great promise as environmentally-friendly light emitters. Among these, InP magic-sized clusters (MSCs) have garnered a lot of interest for possible applications as light emitters due to their unique size and properties but faces challenges due to surface traps. Core/shell strategies have been implemented to overcome these challenges. However, the extremely small size and their poor stability, limiting the choice of suitable shell materials and causing substantial lattice mismatch during low-temperature shelling processes. As a result, improper trap passivation leads to a low PLQY, reported to be merely 4%. To overcome these limitations, we propose a straightforward novel synthetic method. We have observed a remarkable increase in the PLQY of InP MSCs. To further investigate this phenomenon, we performed optical and surface analysis. This study represents the first successful demonstration of significant PLQY improvement in InP MSCs.
