N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) organic solvents have been used in most processes to fabricate cathodes used in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, NMP is an expensive toxic organic solvent, and problems caused such as environmental problems, regulations of NMP, and increased production costs are becoming major issues. In addition, as the demand for high-capacity batteries such as electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage system (ESS) increases, a bulk dry process has attracted attention. So, we prepared an NMP-free cathode with the dry process using agate mortar, used NCM811, CNT, and PTFE binders as materials for the cathode sheet, and assembled a 2023-coin cell to test electrochemical performance. Through the cycle test and SEM analysis, the dispersibility of some CNTs from the dry process presents improved dispersion, which are difficult to disperse in the wet process.
