A stress sensor is a sensor that detects mechanical fine changes (Strain). When the stress sensor is attached to the surface of the structure, the fine strain generated on the surface can be measured, and strength or stability can be confirmed from the size of the change.
In this study, the characteristics of photonic crystals whose structural colors change according to the lattice spacing were applied to stress sensors,
The structural color changed with stress.
The photonic crystal material used was produced by synthesizing silica/polymer core shell particles through surface modification (ATRP) of silica nanoparticles, and dispersing and polymerizing the produced core shell particles in a monomer.
