Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) are the suitable power source which offer many advantages such as absorption wavelength match with indoor light source, realization of vivid color feasibility, and flexible form factor. Although indoor OPVs have shown great progress, for the practical use of indoor OPVs, fabrication of high performance indoor OPV module is essential.
In this study, we have focused on the manufacturing process of OPV modules for high performance in indoor applications. In indoor OPVs, the leakage currents due to internal defect state plays much more detrimental effect than in outdoor condition. Therefore, we have adopted various large-area film fabrication techniques (e.g., doctor-blade, bar-coating, slot die) and etched them with laser scribing. The resulting fabricated large-area organic film showed quality of defect-less film, which can be suitable for implementation of large-area OPV modules for indoor applications.
