The use of photocatalysts is a promising method to deal with environmental pollution. In star polymer catalysts, the amphiphilic microenvironments can facilitate mass transfer and catalytic reaction specifically, photooxidation reaction, but the effects of polymer softness are still not defined. Herein, we synthesized brush-arm type star polymer photocatalysts with amphiphilic microenvironments and evaluated them as photooxidation catalysts. The ultrasoft nature of bottlebrush polymer leads to fast mass transfer of reactant and tremendous catalytic activity for oxidation of furfural. These brush-arm starpolymer catalysts are anticipated as potential photocatalysts to deal with environmental pollution.
