The lithium sulfur battery has captured significant attention in the global energy industry due to its high theoretical capacity and energy density. However, its widespread commercialization has been impeded by a persistent decline in capacity during charge and discharge cycles. The primary reason for the poor cycle stability of the lithium sulfur battery is the release of lithium polysulfide, which originates from the active material within the battery. To address this issue, a solution involving a cross-linked polymer made of polythiophene-polyethyleneglycol has been developed, which was applied to the cathode of the lithium sulfur battery as a coating. This dual-conducting polymer coating not only reduced the resistance of the coating layer but also facilitated the chemical adsorption of lithium polysulfide by the polar PEG moiety. As a result of this approach, the coated carbon-sulfur composite exhibited significantly improved electrochemical performance.
