Over the past few decades, injectable hydrogels have been extensively developed as a promising platform in biomedical applications for tissue engineering and local drug delivery due to their minimal invasiveness, high water content, biocompatibility, biodegradability, in situ sol-gel transition, and stimuli-responsive properties. The ROS-responsive injectable hydrogel could offer the ability to selectively controlled and sustained drug release to target lesions for improving therapeutic efficacy. In this study, we developed a poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm)-based ROS-sensitive injectable hydrogel containing Ce6 and model drug as therapeutic agents. Their physicochemical properties, drug release behavior, and biocompatibility were investigated. In addition, in vitro phototoxicity was determined against HeLa cells under 671 nm laser irradiation.
