Polyurethane is a plastic with various properties and has a wide range of industrial applications. It is suitable for use as a protective film for electronic devices due to its high mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance. In this study, thermoplastic polyurethane is synthesized, which is applied to the protective sealing tape that can be attached to the outer surface of the electrode assembly in a secondary battery to prevent the electrode assembly from loosening and flowing. First, various polyols of polyester type were made by varying the molar ratio of diol and acid value, hydroxyl value, FT-IR, NMR, and GPC were analyzed. Second, Thermoplastic polyurethane was synthesized by mixing with MDI and 1,4-butanediol. Then, a film was formed using a bar coating method and mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation were analyzed.
