Microwave assisted synthesis of ZnSeTe Blue quantum dots

ZnSeTe quantum dots (QDs) are being investigated as an environmentally friendly non-Cd material for the emission layer of electroluminescent devices through various synthesis methods. The conventional heating method, which is the main method used in quantum dot synthesis, transfers heat to the reaction vessel through conduction or convection, resulting in a slow reaction rate and poor energy efficiency. It also has the disadvantage that precise and uniform temperature control is much more difficult. Therefore, in this study, we demonstrated that core/shell-structured quantum dots can be synthesized through the microwave heating method, which can heat the reactants quickly and efficiently and allows precise and uniform temperature control through direct microwave absorption of the reactants. Microwave-synthesized ZnSeTe QDs exhibited a PL of 430-460 nm with a FWHM of 50-53 nm. The maximum PLQY of the shelled QDs was found to be 55%.
