Transparent organic-inorganic hybrid polysilsesquioxane coatings for flexible film

Siloxanes have many commercial and industrial applications such as adhesives, coatings and plastics because of the water repellency, low thermal conductivity, and high flexibility, etc. Especially, the polysilsesquioxane (PSSQ) materials represent excellent thermal, chemical, and mechanical properties. Furthermore, the hybrid of an inorganic and organic moiety of the PSSQ gives both plastic-like flexibility and glass-like hardness. Thus, our group synthesized PSSQ material with crosslinkable vinyl moiety via sol gel reaction and characterized their chemical structure. Furthermore, we prepared organic-inorganic hybrid PSSQ layers containing surface modified silica nanoparticles through UV curing process, which is for an enhancement of scratch and wear resistance of flexible film. The final layers were evaluated for their optical and surface properties such as transmittance, haze, water contact angle, and pencil hardness.
