Solid-state electrolytes for uses of rechargeable battery require essentially much greater mechanical rigidity and high-temperature stability while retaining high ionic mobility. Herein, we propose ionic liquid-based solid electrolytes of PEO-based ABA triblock copolymer, of which the middle block segments of PEO can be soluble with ionic liquid. It can not only self-assemble into well-defined nanostructures but form an ion gel with high-temperature stability in the presence of ionic liquid due to selective solubility of the PEO block segments. The localization of ionic liquid in PEO blocks allows to enhance dramatically mechanical strength of the electrolyte as well as can generate effective routes for ions mobility. In addition, the end blocks are consisted of polystyrene functionalized with the azide group to induce unique chemical cross-linking that can cause mechanical robustness of the ion gels.
