It has various purposes by forming an organic-inorganic hybrid structure through organic materials (chitin, collagen, etc.) and inorganic materials (minerals, etc.). Organic-inorganic hydrogels stand out as a multi-purpose biomaterial, designed for efficient drug delivery to targeted sites. The hydrogels are engineered as an injectable type to ensure minimal invasiveness, enhanced patient convenience, and cost-effectiveness. In this study, we successfully developed hydrogels with outstanding properties, including exceptional moldability, high tensile strain (up to 2000%), and rapid self-healing capabilities (95% within 1 minute). Furthermore, the hydrogels show an excellent drug loading capacity (>1%) and achieve a controlled, steady release of drugs, rather than a first burst release. It is expected to supply an innovative treatment method as a new multifunctional platform for drug delivery and biomaterial engineering.
