Recently, we focused on an inverse-vulcanized sulfur-rich polymer (SRP) as a tribo-negative material for a waste-based triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG). As fluorine has high electron affinity and the highest electron negativity, we had reported strategies to enhance the tribo-negative characteristic of the SRP by modifying the surface through F2 gas and blending with poly(pentafluoro styrene). However, these methods were not free from per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which causes serious human health problems. Herein, 2D MXene was introduced to the SPR for the PFAS-free and waste-based TENG. As a result, the 12.5 cm2 sized TENG achieved voltage and current output that are 2-fold and 9-fold higher, respectively than the best SRP-based TENG in the last study. In particular, the 4-inch sized TENG achieved a power density of 3.89 W m-2 with corona discharge. We believe that SRP/MXene composites will contribute to the advancement of the PFAS-free and waste-based TENG.
