Preparation of Core-shell structured latent curing agent using eco-friendly spray drying method for a one-component epoxy system

Epoxy resins have been widely utilized in various engineering fields including automotive, electrical, electronic and structural materials. Especially, epoxy resins are used as major components of anisotropic conductive film (ACF), which is a film type conductive adhesive with evenly dispersed conductive particles and the ACF have been exploited in display packaging. Epoxy are expanding its market in particular. In developing advanced epoxy resins for ACF, both latent curing and fast curing characteristics are required simultaneously. In this study, core-shell structured latent curing agents were prepared to enhance the latent curing properties of amine-based adducts, rapid curing agent, for epoxy resins. To develop the core shell structured curing agents, spray drying method was employed using eco-friendly water solvent. The prepared core-shell structured latent curing agents were analyzed with NMR, SEM, EDS, and DSC to evaluated their structure and their thermal properties.
