The necessity for next-generation battery development is significant due to the stability issues and low energy density of liquid electrolytes. Currently, Lithium metal batteries are an attractive alternative, but lithium metal faces issues like formation of lithium dendrite and interaction with organic electrolytes. Our research focused on an ethylene oxide-based polymer and garnet-type Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) hybrid electrolyte (PGE). This solid-state electrolyte exhibited high ionic conductivity (1.03 x 10-4 S cm-1 at 50 ℃) and high voltage stability (5.5 V vs Li/Li+), suppressing lithium dendrite growth. A symmetric cell incorporating Li//PGE//Li showed improved suppression of lithium dendrite growth and high stability against lithium metal. Consequently, the PGE exhibits excellent electrochemical performance including high cycle stability, voltage stability, and coulombic efficiency, making it suitable for use in lithium metal batteries.
