Sulfur-rich polymers are formed through inverse vulcanization using elemental sulfur, a byproduct of petroleum refining. Sulfur-rich polymers can be applied to a cost-effective mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR, 3-5 µm) optics with exceptional light transmission. In this presentation, we introduced high-quality nanostructured polymeric sulfur with gold coating to achieve an MWIR wire grid linear polarizer. To avoid numerous trial-and-error, we employed numerical simulations to uncover effective polarizer geometries. By experimenting with thermal nanoimprinting lithography (NIL) parameters, we achieved precise periodic nanostructures. Moreover, we tailored the spacer thickness for both high transmission of transverse magnetic field (TTM) and extinction ratio (ER) via Fabry-Perot resonance. As a result, our polymeric sulfur-based polarizer demonstrated ER (5.81 × 103) value 19.1 times higher than that of the previously reported polymeric sulfur-based polarizer ER (0.30 × 103).
