Dependence on fossil fuels is increasing, and global warming is becoming serious. To mitigate the environmental concern, triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) can be a suitable strategy for green energy-harvesting system generating useful electrical energy through chaotically wasted mechanical energy. In this presentation, we use sulfur-rich polymer (SRP) with high electron affinity as the negative material for high performance in TENG system. Since sulfur exhibits an even higher electron affinity (-200 kJ/mol) compared to carbon (-122 kJ/mol), inducing high TENG output performance. The output performance of TENG can be controlled by differing the sulfur content and geometry of SRP. There exists an optimal point to maximize the voltage, current, and power of the of TENG. This study can offer insights into constructing a low-cost, eco-friendly, high-performance energy harvesting system, along with harnessing the high value-added potential of sulfur, a byproduct of the petroleum industry.
