In this study, we investigated the bending stress of foldable cover windows with an organic-inorganic (O-IO) hybrid coating on ultra-thin glass (UTG) for the flexible display. We utilized ladder-like polysilsesquioxane (PSQ) as the O-IO material, applying coatings of 10 µm and 25 µm thickness. Two-point bending tests showed that the PSQ coating, characterized by its low modulus, had minimal impact on load capacity. However, considering the cross-sectional area, we observed a decrease in bending stress with increased coating thickness. In order to assess bending reliability, we subjected the cover windows to 100k folding cycles with a 6R out-bending radius, revealing no observable permanent deformation or defects in the UTG. Hence, we can conclude that stable bending characteristics can be achieved even with an increased thickness of the cover window by applying the O-IO coating on the UTG.
