Electronic devices are developing into a flexible and stretchable form. However, these stretchable electronic devices have a problem in that vertical shrinkage occurs when it is stretched, and this problem causes image distortion. In addition, a stretchable substrate attached to the skin should have a Poisson's ratio similar to that of the skin so as not to feel discomfort during attachment. To solve this problem, we used our shear-rolling process to control the alignment of block copolymer nanostructures and make a mechanically anisotropic film for an image distortion-free stretchable substrate. Since the cylindrical styrene nanodomains with a high modulus (3250 MPa) are unidirectionally oriented, there is a difference between the vertical and parallel modulus. While common elastic materials have a ~0.5 of Poisson ratio, our mechanically anisotropic film has a low Poisson ratio under 0.05, so it can be used as an image distortion-free stretchable display substrate.
