Flexible and Transparent MXene Electrodes for High-performance Wearable Electronics

The development of wearable and patchable electronics with flexibility, stretchability, and transparency, such as sensors, displays, and energy harvesters is of great interest due to their potential in emerging human-interactive electronics. One of the challenges is the development of a solution-processable transparent electrode with high conductivity. MXenes are 2D transition-metal carbides and carbonitrides with high conductivity and transparency, making them suitable for flexible and transparent electrodes. We present a high-performance LED with a solution-processed MXene electrode, utilizing AC operation for high device performance. We also demonstrated environmentally stable polymer-laminated MXene electrodes and MXene-silver nanowire hybrid electrodes, suitable for flexible and transparent electronics. Our MXene electrode fabrication strategies enabled the development of environmentally stable triboelectric nanogenerators and high-performance field-induced electronic devices.
