Synthesis of PVDF-Based Terpolymers and Their Piezoelectric Performances

Recently, research on polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)-based ferroelectric polymers has been expanding in various fields for applications in sensors, non-voltaic memories, ultra-sound detectors, and nanogenerators due to their excellent ferro-, piezo-, and pyroelectric performances. Especially, studies to implement energy harvesting devices using their piezoelectric properties are actively underway. In this study, PVDF-based polymers with three and more monomers are newly prepared by solution polymerization and multi-functionalization to produce the drastically enhanced piezoelectric performances. We expect that this study will contribute to the development of self-sustained electricity generators, which can be applied in wide areas.
