Recently, the demand of bio-degradable plastic has been increased, due to the plastic waste problem. It is difficult to meet the desired properties with only a single polymer, so research is being conducted on blending compatibilizer or different biodegradable polymers. In this study, we introduced a PLA/PHA/PBAT blends with different ratios to increase mechanical properties and interfacial compatibility. We predicted the morphology of PLA/PHA/PBAT ternary blends using diffusion coefficients and confirmed the interface between each component in the ternary blend through SEM. It was confirmed that in a ternary blend system, PHA encapsulates PBAT to stabilize the interface. As a result, the impact strength increased compared to the PLA/PBAT. In addition, by maximizing the content of biodegradable polymers derived from biomass, we can further pave a new possibility to industrially fabricate eco-friendly packaging materials.
