Various metal ions are bound to the carrageenan network porous hydrogel contact lens to examine the change in the properties of the contact lens. A porous contact was fabricated using sodium carbonate and k-carrageenan was networked. And K+, Ca2+, and Fe3+ were additionally combined. Physical properties were analyzed to evaluate contact lens performance. Porous contact lenses have improved all physical properties except tensile strength compared to basic contact lenses. The contact lens with triple network showed a decrease in water contents, wettability, and oxygen transmissibility, and improved mechanical strength. As for the characteristics according to the type of metal ion, the physical properties of the contact lens combined with K+ were the best. Porous contact lenses had very good physical properties compared to non-porous contact lenses, and the combination of polysaccharide and metal ions improved physical properties compared to non-porous lenses.
